I posted seven PEM Currents podcasts this year covering a broad array of topics. My overall goal, as with PEMBlog as a whole. is to provide succinct, valuable education in a variety of formats. Podcasts are super hot right now – and can offer a supplementary educational experience. When designing the curriculum and recording my podcasts I keep several things in mind.

  1. Keep it short: Nobody wants to hear a rambling talk, or worse still, the audio version of a didactic lecture. I do think that there is a role for long form podcasting – especially with panel style discussions. But, in my mind, each of my podcasts should focus on a single, easily digestible topic. You should be able to get through one (or more depending on the length of your commute) on the way to work.
  2. Keep it practical: There are endless array of topics that I could cover in Pediatric Emergency Medicine – Alas, it is impossible to hit them all, but I do want to make sure that what I publish augments your clinical work as well as offers something new.
  3. Keep it personal: I want to make sure that I connect with my audience using an informal yet informative tone. This includes the soundtrack – which skew towards 80s hits of course.

In 2016 I hope to continue to record more often, as well as feature more interviews like the one I did with Todd Florin last spring. I would love to hear your suggestions on what topics you’d like to hear, and as always thank you for listening.

You can check out all of my podcasts, available for free right here on the iTunes page

Note: If you want the raw mp3s I’d be happy to post those as well
